Jungle icon General Levy releases new single “Jah Jah Guide and Protect”

Jungle royalty and the voice behind the genre-defining hit “Incredible”, General Levy is releasing his latest single. “Jah Jah Guide and Protect” will be the debut release on GLM, the artist’s newly-minted label and creative powerhouse.

“Jah Jah Guide and Protect” is the inaugural release on GLM, a label founded by the General himself.  Recognised as one of the UK’s premier MCs, Levy has moved confidently through ragga, jungle, and DnB over the past two decades: after lending his quickfire delivery and lyrical flair to hit recordings that stretch from underground dance music to mainstream pop, 2019 sees Levy step out independently, self-releasing his own material for the first time in his illustrious career.

The new single, based on Austrian producer DJ Rasfimillia’s “Jah Melody Riddim”, will be released alongside two alternate mixes by Danny Styles from 24 Karat Jungle and producer, engineer and multi-instrumentalist Keefe West.

Opening the record with a rousing fanfare of strings, Rasfimillia’s polished dancehall riddims provide a platform for Levy to send out an uplifting message of devotion, positivity and gratitude, before he moves into a more reflective mood, giving us a glimpse of his sensitive side with a touching instrumental version that lays down his signature vocal hooks over the delicate interplay of acoustic guitar lines. Closing the record in style, Danny Styles switches up the vibe with an utterly filthy jungle/DnB rework that will undoubtedly be tearing up raves across the UK and beyond this summer.

On this latest release, General Levy proves that he’s not only a jungle forefather, but a versatile vocalist with a diverse creative vision, capable of crossing borders between styles and genres while retaining the unique spirit and lyrical edge that’s made him one of the UK’s most respected MCs.
